Wendy Goldberg grew up in New York and New England. She graduated from Cornell University where she fell in love with the moody, dynamic skies and landscape of Ithaca, which have subsequently informed much of her work. She has taught drawing and painting pre-K to adult; curated, designed and hung art exhibitions , and given slide talks at colleges and other venues throughout California. She received a full fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, a Marin Arts Council Individual Artist Grant, a Dean’s Scholarship from Cornell as well as numerous other awards. Her work is included in the Achenbach Collection of Prints and Drawings of the San Francisco Legion of Honor Museum, the Haas Collection, Anderson Consulting, as well as various private and public collections throughout the country and abroad. Although Wendy has lived in northern California for many years, with frequent trips to the east coast, she is equally inspired by the sensibilities of these two very different and dramatic landscapes. “Goldberg’s drawings provide an element of tension, retain a sense of mystery,... imply that the rather simple landscapes of nature contain unrevealed secrets. They contain a serenity of expression which never seeks to obscure life’s essential riskiness.” She is currently represented by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists Gallery, the Oakland Museum Collector’s Gallery, the Donna Seager Gallery in San Rafael, the SKH Gallery in Massachusetts, the Gallatin River Gallery in Montana and the Drawing Center in New York. |
